When the shadows slant eastward

I was struck by this description of the second act of life I recently read in Life Reimagined:The science, art and Opportunity of midlife by Barabara Hagerty, “When the shadows begin to slant eastward.” What a great description of this stage of life…  the sands of time are fewer and flowing faster…and we grasp at life knowing that the ultimate end is now on the horizon… What will retirement be like, if we retire at all?  What will my purpose and intention be in my waning years?  And will there be opportunities that will expand my thinking and...

Second Act Living: on being a grandpa….

Been awhile since i posted last.  Been doing some major re-aligning of my life, both exterior and interior…I might post about that later… This morning I reflected on one aspect of this second act living.  Its called being a Grandpa… I currently have the joy and thrill of grandfathering three young kids and recently found out that my eldest daughter and husband are expecting their first child.  I have not met this child yet, nor have i heard her giggle, laugh or cry. But i am already head over heals in love with her. Early this morning as i sat at my desk reflecting...
