“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous , talented and fabulous?” Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us…And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Nelson Mandela
Who we are in the second act of life tends to be based on the foundations set in our early days. We have been smothered with the ideas, thoughts and criticisms of others, so much so that the scabs that cover our wounds of youth have become hardened crusts that form the foundation for our false self and keep us from becoming who we were meant to be.
And so we enter the second act of life,
Wounded by our past mistakes
Fearful of what lies ahead
Betrayed by life itself.
When we should be living as people who are
Fully alive
Passionately loved by God
Living life to the fullest
Where are you in your second act? Cowering under the covers of your past mistakes, unwilling to acknowledge who you really are? And who God made you to be? It’s time to awaken the person you were meant to be, and begin living life that brings life and nourishment to others. It’s time to make the Second Act of life, purposeful, intentional and extraordinary. Because that’s what we were created to be. Living bearers of God’s goodness and image.
So let’s do this and make our Second Act one that shakes the foundation of our world.
Men if you are interested in pursuing this, let me know, we have two events planned to get us on this path to greatness.
Manhike in Georgia (April 15-17)
Men’s Construction trip to Swaziland, South Africa.
Its time to follow God’s call to be who we are meant to be. Contact me if you are interested in these trips. I would love to talk with you about them.
